Choosing the right service for you

Disability services

There isn’t one mobile phone that suits everyone. Fortunately we offer a wide range of phones, making it possible to find one with features that suit your particular needs.
Visit the Mobile Manufacturers Forum website to find out more about mobile accessibility features and suitable handsets.

Restricted hearing

Phone features

You can adjust the speaker volume on most phones – making it easier to hear the ring tone and those calling you. Or you may prefer vibrating alerts instead.

You can also use your phone to send and receive text messages or emails.

999 text service

Need to contact the emergency services? If you’re deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech impairment, you can send a text message to 999. You will need to register your phone before you can use this free service.

Restricted vision

If you have restricted sight, you’ll find that some phones have a number of useful features to make using them easier to use, including:

  • A raised dot on the number 5 to help you find your way around the keypad
  • Voice-activated dialling systems, which remove the need to look for a contact in your phone’s memory
  • Text-to-speech software, which reads aloud the information displayed on your phone’s screen.

Limited dexterity

Voice-activated dialling systems mean it’s possible to make and receive calls without the need to scroll through your phone’s menus and contact lists. If you don’t know someone’s number, you can also call Directory Assistance on 118 888 and ask to be put straight through.

Take a look at our range of accessories, which include hands-free kits and belt clips.
